Snoring

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
by Julie

I have a female maltese. She just turned 12 on 10/5/97. When she is asleep she snores. She is very loud & keeps me awake at night. Does anyone else have this problem? If so do you know what causes it?

DISCUSSION:

Please bear in mind when reading topics pertaining to health issues, that many of these questions were answered by helpful Maltese owners with no formal education in veterinarian medicine. When in doubt seek a professionals advise.

My maltese is vary quiet when he asleep. sometime we can't tell if he was asleep or just lying there.

Hi Julie: My Rastus snored (loudly!) in his old age too. He didn't snore when he was younger so I'm sure it's an age-related thing; old humans seem to snore more (or more loudly) than younger ones, don't they? You may want to mention it to your vet on your baby's next check-up though, just to make sure that it's nothing more sinister than old age.

Hi Deanna(Moose & Squirrel)I'm not sure about the old age thing. Fluffy snores louder than my husband & that is pretty loud! She has been snoring for a long time. It doesn't seem to bother her too much. I will mention it to my vet though the next time I go. Thank you for the input.

My two year old zeus snores alot, especially when he is asleep, flat on his back, which is his favorite sleeping position. It is so funny to hear him do it. He has woke me up several times at night. Sometimes it makes me want to wake him up and tell him to turn over.
