Will not walk on floor!

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
by Sarah

My 1 1/2 old maltese once got dropped on our wooden floor. He will not walk on it at all any more. We tried putting a trail of treats down but he only followed it to a certain point. It would be really nice if he would walk on it because when it is raining he has to go all the way around to another door. Please HELP!!!!!

DISCUSSION:

Please bear in mind when reading topics pertaining to health issues, that many of these questions were answered by helpful Maltese owners with no formal education in veterinarian medicine. When in doubt seek a professionals advise.

I'm verry sorry to hear this. is your dog ok? Find out what is his fav. treat is. in a trail all the way across the floor see how that goes .

I don't suppose something like a bit of carpet runner, littered with favorite toys. Or perhaps interactive place, you on floor fuzzy on you lap makine moves toward the door. Mine hates bridges, wood stairs, wood deck.--astro terf.

I don't know if this will work but it is worth a try. As we all know, when you first start leash training you sometimes have to drag them along by the leash the first few times. I would try leashing your dog and walking it accross the floor to go to the door even if you have to drag the dog. After awhile I think it will get the message that nothing bad will happen. Good Luck. Heather - Canada
