parasites?

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
by david K

I have about 1yr old maltese and recently I found little creatures in his feces. They were white colored, about two inches long and had oval shapes. Because they were alive, I suspect that those are some sort of parasites. I am very concerned so please help me.

DISCUSSION:

Please bear in mind when reading topics pertaining to health issues, that many of these questions were answered by helpful Maltese owners with no formal education in veterinarian medicine. When in doubt seek a professionals advise.

The next time your dog has a bowel movement, get a sample of it and take it to the vet. They can examine it, find out exactly what kind of parasite it is and give your dog proper medication. I'm sure he'll be fine, but please do it soon. It sounds like he has round worms or tape worms.

Sounds like the worm problem to me, too. You must take a sample to the vet and have it checked. They will give you the appropriate fix for it--in Lucy's case, one tiny pill. This is something that falls into the "normal" range of doggie things--if your dog has or has had fleas, it's probably a tape worm. DO get the sample to your vet and give your baby the medication as soon as possible. My vet doesn't need to see the dog. You can just drop by with a sample, wait about 15 min (or get the results later), pick up a pill and be on your way.
