My dog had 2 pups yesterday, 1 died & the other is having a hard time eating. We have been feeding the pup w/ a dropper,the mother want to feed him but he dosen't want the moms milk. He did at first but the bitch didn't. He is very small and we're first time breeders and aren't sure what amount of food in the dropper we should be administering, so if possible please give us any helpful tips on keeping this little guy alive as soon as possible, we have been up 28 hrs and would also like to know if we are out of the woods yet. • No! Your not out of the woods yet! Unfortunatly, the problem you have is a very common one for Maltese's. The symptoms are just as you are describing. The pup probably just wants to go to sleep instead of feed, but it sounds like your doing the only thing to do. If your feeding the new pup a replacer milk, follow the instructions on the container, but if at all possible try to get him to feed off the mother. The first 24 hours of the mothers milk is extremely important for that new pup to survive. I wish you luck.--Jay
