could my maltese be sick?
by Dorit
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
My maltese Kikki is 14 wk old. In the last few days I have noticed that she sneezed ( I think it is a sneez)quit a few times a day. Is that normal or could she have caught a cold? If it is not a sneez could it be kennel cough? What does kennelcough sounds like? Please respond if you have an answer. thank you, Dorit and Kikki

DISCUSSION:

There is a lot of information on kennel cough in the archives. You can educate yourself by reading it. Bottom line, go to the vet., let him diagnose the problem.

Dorit--please read my post under sick baby started by David. It is on the current discussion board. I think that your little one should really go the the vet ASAP!!

Now you have me worried about cotton. Did you go to the vet? Hope the puppy is o.k. Take a moment to reply and let us know how he is doing.

Vita--Cotton is doing great after I took him up to Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston to see their chief cardiologist. He is also completely recovered from the overdose of metronidazole. It is so frustrating when your baby does not receive the correct treatment! Cotton and I are going to see Dr. Harpster in Boston in the beginning of April for his 6 month checkup. While we are up there he is also going to see an orthopedic surgeon for his arthritis. I am very fortunate to be able to take Cotton to Angell. I have great parents that regard Cotton as their grandchild and provide us with financial and most importantly emotional support. All of his vets comment that Cotton is in such great shape for a 14 year old:-) Thanks for your concern. It is great to talk to people about their little furbabies!

Yes, please do let us all know how the puppy is. Cricket often sneezes for attention; she gets scolded if she barks too much, so I guess her sneezing is something she knows she can do without getting in trouble. But she doesn't constantly sneeze as if she had allergies or something, so maybe your furbaby has something serious. Let us know how she does.

Could be something on your floors ! Are you using detergent to wash your kitchen/bathroom floors ? Residue when sniffed ,will cause sneezing ! Dogs, like people can suffer from allergies.
