She's worth the wait!
by Lynne
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
After months of visiting the forum and reading the archives and living the life of a "Malty-Mom Wannabe", I am very happy to announce that we have our very own Maltese at last. She is 17 months old. Her former family named her Sugar and she certainly lives up to her name. She's as sweet as can be! And she's just soooo cuuuute! We got her last Saturday and she has already fit in with our family and routine! She just seems too good to be true! Well, 'scuse me me for going on and on. Guess it's been building up for a week! ;-) We're just so tickled to have her!
DISCUSSION:
How wonderful Lynne! Congratulations to Sugar for finding you! Now you know why we are all so oohey-gooey over our furbabies. Please tell us all about her!

Lynne, I know just how you feel. I had wanted a Maltese for years & finally got one. She is so beautiful, spoiled & a little devil, but would not change one thing about her. You have lots of good times & love ahead. Congratulations & I love the name Sugar.

Sugar....Hi, wag, wag!! This is Taffy, (Robin M's baby). I wanted to personally welcome you to our MalteseOnly family. Mommy loves this place and gets lots of good tips here, of course I think she ignores me terribly while she's here! I wanted to tell you something.....now, you got to train them Sugar, and you got to learn to get these "looks" so you get what you want! I am not saying to be mean, or bad, but with the right training they will spoil you and give you lots of treats and things. If they get clothes for you, look as adorable as you can, then they take lots of pictures, YOU will be the center of their world...hehehe! It's great! And if you have any problems just e-mail me Sugar!! SO glad to have you here! Licks and wags from Taffy M.

Welcome to MO, Lynne and Sugar! Now remember, you'll need a small chest of drawers for her clothes, a toy box, and a car seat. Be sure and check out the Woof! Auction for all your cute collectibles, too.

Welcome Sugar and Lynne, You are so fortunate to have found this site and took time to read about the wonderful antics of our precious dogs on MalteseOnly! I love what Taffy wrote to you! Be brave and come to the chat room. You need to get a password, but many of us are here from 8-10 pm Eastern Time Zone. Friday chats are not hosted, so sometimes no one is on the chat line. Also, check out the photos of our doggies and lots of useful information can be found on the left side of the homepage. Welcome to MalteseOnly!
Halen and Comet!
Conratulations Lynne on becoming a real Maltese mommie! I love the name Sugar but then I have to confess that I'm very partial to that name. Sugar was the name of the very first Maltese that we had ever had and she such a treasure! She was beautiful, intelligent, sensitive, well- mannered, playful, loving - just an absolutely perfect fur baby! I know your Sugar will be the same for you! Congratulations to the both of you for finding each other.

Lynne: I know what it is to be a "Wannabe" Maltese Mom. I was one for what seemed to be a very long time. My friend took her maltese to visit her daughter who has a male maltese and she was molested without anyone knowing. Anyway, my friend wanted to keep one puppy as a companion to the mother maltese and she was going to give me one. I waited and waited forever to get my baby and guess what? Only one baby came and my mean friend wouldn't give her to me. We looked and looked, didn't realize maltese were so difficult to find, and finally, quite by accident, ran into a lady with an expectant maltese. That was just a God send. But
had to wait and wait again. When I finally got Sara, I knew why I had to wait for her. She was especially made just for me. She is perfect, more than I ever dreamed. I will bet that is exactly why you had to wait for Sugar so God could made one especially for you. Happiness is being a Maltese Mom. Welcome to MalteseOnly.

Lynne:I know exactly how you feel-I was a "malty-mama-wannabe" just a few mos. back when I found this site. Even though I hadn't gotten my Emma yet, everyone one here was very supportive and pulling for me. I also had trouble finding a reputible breeder. I visited one breeder who tried to talk me into getting a male and then got mad at me when I asked too many questions! I then found a breeder who didn't have anything, but was waiting for a lady to send her a deposit on a little female she had promised her. Well, lo and behold, the lady was in College and couldn't get Emma at that time so, I got Emma instead...kind of on default! And she was everything I had hoped and prayed for. I Bless the lady who I got her from! Welcome to you and Sugar and Emma sends licks and wags!

Lynne - don't you feel so lucky to be blessed with such a precious being as a little Maltese!! They are the greatest. I think Taffy said it best, "they are the center of our world!!" Enjoy and give Sugar a lick from my Bear boy.

Congratulations Lynne! Sugar is such a cute name. Lots of wags and licks from Munchkin and Amber.

Congratulations! I am a Maltese mommy wannabe and can't wait until the day I post a message like yours. Enjoy your new baby and the new love it will bring into your home.
Arlene
Arlene, I know exactly how you feel! I used to look thru the M.O. photo album and sigh, wondering whether I'd ever find "my" Maltese. Hang in there! There's a Maltese out there with your name on it. You'll find each other when the time is right.
Lynne
I am a "Malty-mom" wanna-be and am so envious!! I have been researching the breed and opportunities to own my own maltese for a year now and it is getting so hard to be patient! I have decided I want to adopt a little dog from a rescue oganization. Where did you come by yours? Congratulations! Again, I am so envious and definitely impatient for my day to come!
Kelley
Kelley, we didn't get Sugar thru a rescue. A family in our area got her when she was about 3 or 4 months old. Since then, their circumstances changed so that they didn't have time for her and she was spending most of her time alone, gated in their kitchen. I saw an ad for her in the paper. She's never been alone since we brought her home and she likes it that way! So do we! ;-) I understand how impatient you must feel (been there, done that), but don't worry. You'll find yours, too!
