Potty pad containment
by Jean & Nikita
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
My 4 month maltese , Nikita has had the problem of missing potty pad as i have read many do when they are finding the spot they want to use. We made a "picture" frame and put around pad
she has used this for 4 days and has not missed the pad once, when she is turning around the frame keeps her feet inside and she doesn't get off pad.I really like this. IT is only 1 1/2 inches high so it is not hard to get in for the babyies.
DISCUSSION:
a picture frame???? What kind? Baroque? Modern? I had this vision of a big wooden carved thing in the middle of my kitchen floor...what an interesting concept!

We made one for Quigley too. Sometimes he still would not get completely on the pad. We used trim molding and after some thought cut a grove about a 1/4" from the bottom and placed a light weight panel in the grove to give it a different height. (AnneH once said that the dog thinks he is on the pad - thought this would help him realize he was only partway on) We also placed heavy duty plastic on the bottom to catch the leak through. Now, as long as the pad is half unused, Quigley gets completely on the pad. The plastic can be placed in the washing machine for cleaning, that's a lot easier than mopping the floor once or sometimes twice a day!
