Top-knot, with Puppy Cut?

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Mattie is getting groomed for the first time on Monday. I'm really excited because her hair is really growing out. I love the look of the puppy cut, at least for now, while she's so little. But, I was wondering, does it look okay for the hair on top of her head to be long enough for a bow, even with a puppy cut? Or, should I just have them do the puppy cut all over? I really need some opinions.
DISCUSSION:
I have never had it any other way. Maisy wears pigtails and Beau wears one ponytail. The rest of their hair is short. Even in the summer when I thought the groomer scalped them, they looked cute with the long hair on top.

Your Maltese has to have a bow!! Peaches has one topnot now, but she usually has two. We call them her horns! Right now she is growing out some of her hair around her eyes so it can be pulled up also. That takes forever to grow out!! In the meantime she kind of looks like the shaggy dog.

Absolutely! Phoebe wears a topknot and has a short haircut - this way we have the best of both worlds. This way she still looks like a Maltese and I still have enough hair on her to play with. My Yorkie got scalped each winter and I always left his topknot, too - said I had to leave him some dignity!

Kristen: KoKo has the shortest puppy cut you'll ever see because she is curly, however, her face looks exactly like all other Maltese along with a topknot and beautiful long flowing tail. People tell me she's beautiful. Shayna has a 3/4 coat and looks like everyother Maltese should look. They are so cute walking down the street together. Have fun with you baby.

I just got Chardy done for the first time last week. They did a scissors cut on her which I really liked. It is still a puppy cut but I made them leave it long on top. She wears her little pig tails on top and looks so cute. They also cut some of the straggle hairs around her eyes and she can see much better. She looks so cute!!!

Kristen: Casper is curly like Koko and I keep him in a short cut. But he does wear the single topknot on top and I put matching rhinestone collars on him -- right now it's black for Halloween, then red for Christmas and Valentine, blue for Easter, etc. He loves it, and is the only one of my babies who will keep his bow in longer than a day!
