Here's a Maltese MIRACLE!
by Annette
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Dear Maltese Lovers, if you have never had any trouble with mats or tangles, STOP reading this message. BUT, if you want a true MIRACLE, run, don't walk, to the nearest store and purchase PANTENE Pro-V Daily Treatment Conditioner for DRY or Damaged Hair. I have tried EVERYTHING, and some helped, but this product has saved my life and the life of Mikee and Angel. Use it just one time and you will never be without it. You can use it as a rinse after bathing, or rub a little on your hands and rub into the hair just before brushing or coming. I don't use those typical brushes with the fine metal teeth on my babies either. I use the Untangler Comb (red) that has the swivel metal teeth, but the edges of the teeth are not sharp. It just glides through their hair when I use the Pantene product. How long has it been since your comb glided through your baby's hair! Each night Mikee and Angel enjoy our "time together" as I recomb their hair. As an extra bonus, it makes our babies smell just beautiful. My husband came home the first time I used it on Mikee and Angel and he said, "Wow, they sure smell good!" Annette, Mikee and Angel

DISCUSSION:

Annette, thank you for the tip. I have tried a lot of things on Noah, too. Most of them work well, but by day seven, I have to bathe again because the hair gets so matted and hard to comb even with detanglers. Just the act of sitting causes the hair on Noah's bottom to matt. It would be nice to bathe less often, say every 10-14 days. Do you still have to bathe yours every week, or can you bathe less often using the Pro-V? I will try this and I will let you know how it goes.

As a suggestion, you could also dilute the conditioner with distilled water and spray on the coat as you brush or comb it.

What works for some may not work for others. Cooper gets a perfectly clean coat with some non brand name shampoo for pets. (Boy does he look like a little mouse while bath time!) His hair feels like soft cotton, I use a fine plastic comb which he practically falls asleep while getting combed and loves. (Only at night of course) His little "brown beard" is another whole problem though. ;)

I also use the red untangler comb. Sara hates to be brushed but doesn't mind the comb. It works as well as a brush for us.

Wow - where do I find an untangler comb?

An Untangler Comb - red???????

I was so intrigued with the 'Untangler Comb' I forgot to say - Pro-V is in fact Vitamin B5. It seems that Pantene products have more Vit B5 than most brands. Also, the "Daily Treatment" is extremely mild, making it ok for our babies. And, yes! Pantene has a 'clean' aroma, not flowery or spicy! Hey! Lets write to Procter & Gamble Inc. & Richardson-Vicks Inc. We could do an ad for them & build a Maltese Rescue Fund! lol

Annette, I also have started using Pantene Pro V, but I use the light spray in conditioner. I had Tiffini groomed yesterday & took the Pantene with me & asked P. to use it instead of the creme rinse she uses. She loved it & said she was going to get some. And yes Bee Gee you have a great idea aout writing to P & G. They might like to hear about this. LOL!

I'm willing to bet P&G would market the product and start a pet line! I'm willing to try it. We've had success with Aussie Hair Insurance, but Comet has nice silky short hair. Thanks for sharing good news!

I tried the Pro-V on Mason yesterday. It works great! No snarls after his bath. Made it alot easier on both of us!! Thanks :)

I just went out and purchased Pro V, cant wait to see the results. Bath time is Friday night. Thank you for sharing. I use a dematting comb on Bee Bee and it really helps keep the knots and mats away.

I have been using pantene on my baby since I got her I love it. I'm glad to hear its ok , because I've been using it for a year now. Please tell me where to get a red untangler comb. Thank you. Lisa Del

Sorry I've been away for a week. The detangler comb I found at PetSmart. The comb part that you hold with your fingers/hand is red plastic and the letters "Detangler" are embossed in the red plastic so you have to look closely to see it. The teeth of the comb are the same "color" as a regular comb (silver), but the teeth points are more blunt and don't hurt the baby's tender skin. It is only about 5 inches long. It's not too big. Hope you find it. It's great. I need a new one after using it for one year...the teeth are getting bent! Annette, Mikee and Angel
