Cubbie's sore
by Felicia & Cubbie
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Here's an update on Cubbie's non-healing sore. We took him to the vet on Monday to get this sore healed once and for all. The vet said it was a surface infection caused by hair follicles or something to that effect. It is not a deep infection much to my relief. The vet prescribed a strong antibiotic for 10 days and a special medicinal shampoo. He shaved the area on Cubbie's neck and lanced the sore to get it all cleaned out. Once a day, we clean the area with the shampoo and he gets a pill wrapped in cheese once a day also. Piece of cake so far. The sore is getting smaller. After 10 days, we'll take him back for another checkup and see what the vet says. If the the medicines are doing the job (and they seem to be), then we will continue until it is completely cleared up. If it doesn't work, then he will need surgery. So please pray for Cubbie....I am petrified about him having surgery. The vet is hoping to avoid this, but he believes that the antibiotics should do the job. PRAY for Cubbie please! Thank you everyone! Love, Felicia and Cubbie

DISCUSSION:

Fe - Don't you worry about your sweet Cubbie. We maltese people have a way of sending the most powerful, healing, positive vibrations that Cubbie will get well in no time. Keep us posted.

The sore is getting smaller and will continue to get smaller until it disappears. Give Cubbie a hug from us, Felicia and know that everthing will work out just fine.

Felicia: I will pray for Cubbie. He will get better. That's a good sign that the sore is getting smaller. Give him a big hug and kisses from me. Take care!

Felicia, ever since I realized Cubbie was having a problem, I've been thinking about him. If the sore is already starting to heal, then after the course of antibiotics, it should be fine. Don't worry about surgery yet - it probably won't happen - but if it does, you know we are all here. (bald) Lily sends licks and wags to Cubbie!!

Please don't worry,it sounds like the antibiotics will do the trick. What I am more concerned about is Cubbie eating cheese for 10 days straight.Ha! Ha! Ike and Tina send licks and wags. DebbieB

Felicia, sounds like the antibiotics are doing their job and Cubby will be fine soon. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that no surgery will be needed!! Tell Cubby that I, too, have a little cysty thing that wants to stay and I have to see the plastic surgeon next month to have it removed. So he and I can be brave together if he has to have the ugly thing cut off!

Felicia, sounds like Cubbie's sore will be healed up before you know it. We are all thinking of him at our place - Squirrel wants pills wrapped in cheese too, please! The Beasties send licks and snuffles and their mum sends a big hug - we're sure your next post will be a very happy one!

Good luck Felicia! If the sore is getting better now, there's no reason for it not to heal completely. But even if Cubbie does end up needing surgery, Binky says it's not SO bad... all that extra attention and treats!
Judy
Felicia, I sure hope the antibiotics continue to clear up Cubbie's sore. It sounds like you're following the doctor's orders to a "T". Just keep up being the good mommy that you are and Cubbie will do great. Give him smooches from me.

I just know Cutie Cubbie will be fine. Things like this just take a little time. The "B" Gals and I will be praying for him. Let us know how he does. All Our Prayers and best wishes.

Hi, Felicia,Sorry to take so long responding -- I was out of touch for several days, and when I came back on, I didn't make it quite this far in my reading! We hope that Cubbie is feeling much better by now. You can be sure that you are both in our prayers. Touquet sends lots of licks and kisses to Cubbie, and there's a hug for you too!
