Pooping in house, help!

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
My 11 month male neutered puppy was trained from the time we got him to poop outside. Last week he had an accident in the diningroom. It looked like he needed his anal glands cleaned. I cleaned it up really well with the proper dog cleaner. Today found several "old" very small ones near the previous site. He has NEVER pooped in the house before. Any ideas on bow to discourage this behavior?!

Linda, try putting a little dish of food where he's going. They hate to mess where they eat.

Hi,From what you have said, this sounds like a medical problem rather than a training or obidience problem. You should take your dog to the vet. At the very least, call your vet and consult with him.You might also look if you've changed anything in your dog's life recently. Is he eating a new food or somthing?

Linda--it could be an emotional problem or a physical one. Truly, these little ones don't usually use the house after they are broken unless there is some problem. Even my rescue kids who come to me because they are using the house for a bathroom stop immediately when they are on schedule and getting what they need. So, check with the vet and rack you brain to see what if anything has changed in his environment that could be upsetting him. If everything checks out ok, try going back to your original potty training method and starting again from square one--crating, leashing him, keeping him in kitchen/bathroom, whatever you did initially. That will remind him of the "rules" until this behavior stops. Sometimes it is just a test and you have to win.
