Dog food
by Dottie
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Dog foodHi guys, my p.c. was down for 5 days, that's why my big mouth wasn't here on the web. I did ask about dog food for Tasha, has anyone had experience with Nutra. Sounds good to me, am thinking about changing her over, the stool consistety {sp?} is suppose to be firm stools and not as much poopy. By the way, had her clipped in a different cut that is in the album, like it much better. Didn't have her body shaved, so there was 2/12 mos. of growth, but had her legs taken down to the same as the body, tail, face and top knot was left alone, she looks sooo cute, but she's telling me NO MORE CLIPS, she wants to go in the photo album in full coat.

DISCUSSION:

Dottie, sorry to hear about your computer. Glad you are back!I have heard good things about Nutro and bad so it really depends on Tasha and how her tummy handles it. I have Buster on IAMS Puppy and will gradually put him on IAMS Adult once he hits a year old in July. Yes their stools should remain firm. Good Luck and welcome back. Computers have us at their mercy don't they

Hi Dottie!Glad to hear that your computer is up and running. I know how it is when computers don't behave. The one at work drives me nuts and the one at home sometimes makes me cry, but somehow I manage to stay out of horrific jams because I have a friend who comes to my rescue whenever I need him! I have always fed Cubbie Iams mini chunks. I used to mix it with something else that was really teeny tiny bits (can't remember the name), but now he gets just the mini chunks. His stools are always firm, except for this afternoon, he has slightly runny stools. That's my fault because I gave in to him and let him have one too many potato chips...he won't be getting anymore for a long time.

Dottie, welcome back - we missed you. I've heard enough bad about Nutro that I don't think I would even try it. A lot on this forum said their babies were throwing up on it. There are lots of good foods out there from which to choose. Why not try something else?

Dottie, check the archives because I remember that several people in this forum had very bad experiences with Nutro, it made their babies throw up. Also, check out this site if you want an on-line comparison of the ingredients in different kibbles: http://www.aloha.com/~wolfepack/foodcht4.html then ask for some sample packs at your local pet food store and do a taste test. Our beasties love Innova kibble and California Natural, and I have heard that Flint River Ranch, Bil-Jac and Pro-plan are all pretty good too. A lot of the maufacturers have distributors who will deliver if no store in your area sells their product. But I think that anything that they will happily eat, which is healthy (and not full of by-products and potential carcinogens) is the best food.

Hi Dottie, I use Nutro. When we brought Taffy home, I asked the pet store what would be good for my maltese. She suggested Nutro, I have been using it ever since. It's good for their coat and skin she mentioned. Taffy has a nice silky coat, and have no problems with it. If its not broken, don't fix it, so why change now. Now even humans like the same food, so I guess it goes the same way with dogs!

Pro-plan is the BEST ! Nutro made all of mine sick ! I have 15 !

Hi there, I've never heard of Nutro, but my two boys eat Nature's Recipe, The Toy Specific Formula. It is specially formulated for the needs of dogs like maltese and such. They have small and firm little poops. Unless, of course, they eat a few kleenex and their poops come out white!
