teary eyes
by Steve & Terri
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
teary eyesWe just became the proud owners of a 10 week old Maltese puppy. What a doll!!! My wife was concerned about the watery eyes. I thought this was common but she would like some reassurance or feedback either way.

DISCUSSION:

Dear Steve and Teri: Congrats on your brand-new puppy!! What did you name your new bundle-of-fur? You will probqably have a zillion questions about its puppy-hood and the breed in general - that is why the archive is such a terrific source of info about caring for, (and reassurance) regarding your new family member.

First of all, did your vet check out this puppy? I want to say watery-eyes are normal for the breed, but make sure there is not a problem with the eyelashes. Tearing is very common - the stains from tears are probably the most talked-about problem with new owners! There is a whole section devoted to that single topic in the contents-bar on the main page of this site. I wish you the very best with your new doggy. I'm glad you found this site, too!
