DISCUSSION:
JP, my previouse Malt, Chico was 16 yrs old when he passed. He developed Cataracs at the age of 14. The vet said they weren't bad so I didn't have to do anything about them. Good Luck with the surgery. Keep us posted.

So far the vet gave us some pre-surgery eye drops that we are putting in twice a day, as well as one drop once a day of some other medication in the eye he's operating on. The reason we decided to go ahead with the surgery is that Cloudio will probably be totally blind within a couple of years if we didn't. The sooner it's done the better the chance that he'll be able to get a new lens, thereby getting most of his vision back in that eye. He's also very active and likes to play with our 1 1/2 year old shitz-su, Coco. We also have to get some tests done on Cloudio to make sure he is healthy enough to have the operation.
I'm sure there won't be any problem in that respect. People who don't know him ask if he's a puppy a lot of the time.
Anyway, the operation is scheduled for May 19. If anyone has had this operation done on their maltese please let me know how it went.
