Frequently Asked Questions About Maltese Dogs

Match word(s).

I would like to own a Maltese, however, I have small children(ages 5 & 3). Is the Maltese is too fragile for this age group?

All children are different. Some are rougher than others. Some are more bored than others. Some are well behaved and some are not. Only you know what your child is like and capable of. A Maltese as a pup is very fragile. They sometimes play rough but they aren't that strong when it comes to being dropped, stepped on or constantly teased. Accidents do happen and more so with young children. The first thing that most children want to do with a small puppy is pick it up, hold it and perhaps start walking around with it. Puppies are fidgety. A Maltese probably would not get out of being dropped even from a few feet without some serious injuries. You must be honest with yourself when you make the decision. No one knows your children better than yourself. If you have any doubts at all I would strongly recommend you look at a little larger and more hearty of a breed for a pet.
