Hi I'm back again. I really like the discussion forum. It really helps me alot in bringing up my little girl. What I would like to know is, it is a must for a maltese pup to take only dry food. This is because the pet shop told me that maltese should only be put on dry food. If so, why. How about when she is full grown. Can I give her can food. Gee, I'm confused 'cause this is the first time in my life that I am rearing a dog. Thanks for all the tips in advance.
DISCUSSION:
The vet told me for the dogs teeth and general health to feed dry food. Canned is so easy, and they love it so much, but I have stuck to dry food. I feed Iams Lamb and Rice. I guess he was right because I have a very healthy bunch of dogs with beautiful teeth. Also be sure and brush those teeth every day.

Marsha, how do you brush their teeth? and are they very cooperative? do you use tooth paste?

I use a soft bristle brush and Beef flavored doggie toothpaste. They have been getting them brushed since they were little bitty, so they don't know any better. When they were babies, they loved the toothpaste, and I talk to them the whole time. They will let me do anything to get attention, so they never minded. Just tell them they are pretty and they will like it.
