On 7/11/96, Anna asks: My maltese is 15 months old and weighs only 2 lbs. & 2 ozs. I would love to put weight on her but she doesn't like to eat. Does anyone know of how to motivate my Maltese to eat and gain weight?

• Loss of appetite is one of the earliest symptoms of most ailments and diseases and of worms. For healthy dogs, Vitamin B is especially helpful in stimulating the appetite of a finicky eater. Or a little syrup on her food may tempt her. Malted-milk tablets appeal to some dogs, canned fish is mouth watering to some. Some Maltese can usually be coaxed into eating with a soothing voice and they love to be hand fed. Another option would be since many dogs are interested in the food that you eat, finicky eaters will eat their dog food if they think it is from the master's plate.Jay
