Trembling Maltese

Our 9 year old male maltese has been experiencing the following for the last 2 days:
Trembling, moaning lightly when picked up, tries to get out of our hands when picked up, loose stool, seems slightly "puffy" around midsection. He ate and drank yesterday, But will not since last evening. Any hints before we call the vet?

• Tessie has those types of symptoms as a result of her recurring acute bowel disorder. It took a long time to get her problem successfully diagnosed. Yes, go to a good diagnotic vet. ASAP. If you are in the Wash. D.C. area, I can't recommend the Arlington Animal Hospital to highly. They saved Tessie!
