Headstrong Maltese
I have a 5 month old female maltese who is very headstrong and aggressive.
She will not come when called. She is always biting even when she being
loving (which is rare). If given the oppurtunity she would chase cars or
anything else in motion. I can't seem to keep her attention, but I know she
is very bright since she was fully housebroken in a couple of weeks and
knows the names of most her toys and will retrieve them by name. Any
suggestions on controlling her. I have had 2 other maltese females and had
no trouble training them.
- Being your Maltese is 5 months of age, I don't think this type of
behavior is anything to be concerned about..yet. I would say she'll
grow out of it and settle down a bit once she gets to be closer
to 1 year of age.
- The most humane training tool my wife and I have found is the water bottle with regular tap water. we use it for barking, jumping, and any undsirable behaviors. A little squirt in the face goes a long way with a simple command of "no bark" or "no jump". Of course when they comply we praise them and give lots of LOVE and it really works well. Of course once in awhile you find the smarty that likes the water. Iam working on that.
