Dominance?
Pepper is now 16 weeks old. I am his primary "caretaker"
i.e. feeding, "bathroom visits", etc. I am also his primary
disciplinarian. Lately, I have noticed that when I try to
correct his inappropriate behaviors, he responds by
growling & at times showing his teeth!! My method of
correcting him is to clap my hands to get his attention
& then say "NO" in a firm voice. I do at times point my
finger which may be the "problem"?? This doesn't happen
all the time, but has happened on at least 3 occassions.
Any advice? Is this "normal"? Is this fear on his part
or his this his attempt to scare me?? Quite frankly, I have
had a fear of dogs since a child & although I do not fear
Pepper, I wonder, if I am somehow giving him that
sense??

- Try making little Pepper look you in the eyes as you correct him. He is
testing you. Be stearn and always follow thru with correction. I have had 3
puppies and one has always had a problem looking me in the eyes. He does not
want to mind.
